- The Gospel is the foundation and centre of our faith.
- The more similarities we hold with the Colossian circumstances, the more relevant the Scripture is to our lives.
- Because of our close relation to the audience of the letter, this book of the Bible is very relevant to us.
- The letter begins by introducing the Colossians as both those who are “in Colossae” and “in Christ.” (Col 1:1-2)
- This implies that they exist in two spheres of influence: the fallen world and the heavenly kingdom.
- The Gospel is the seed that produces fruit in the lives of people and in the world. (Col 1:3-14)
- Parable of the sower (Mat 13:3b-8) o When we hear the message of the gospel and we understand it, it takes root in our hearts and it produces God’s fruit. Then it reproduces 30, 60, 100 times.
